‘We’re grieving’; Man killed in Catalpa Drive shooting identified

One person has reportedly been taken to the hospital.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of a man who was shot and killed in a shooting at Catalpa Drive.

Deonte Ballinger, 25, of Dayton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Law enforcement and medic units responded to a report of a shooting on Catalpa Drive around 10:09 p.m. Saturday, according to dispatch records.

Two people had reportedly been shot, and one person was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

News Center 7’s Sean Cudahy approached people on the scene to ask if they had heard anything, to which they replied “We’re grieving.”
