Coroner’s office ID’s man found shot, killed in Dayton

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal shooting as 27-year-old Jamal Davon Colvin.

His preliminary cause of death was determined as multiple gunshot wounds and has been ruled a homicide by the coroner’s office.

FIRST REPORT

A man was found dead, suffering from at least one gunshot wound, near the intersection of Burleigh Avenue and Greenway Street in Dayton early Monday morning.

Police and medics were dispatched to the intersection around 12:30 a.m. after receiving 911 calls of a shooting victim.

A male who called 911 reported a there was a person on the ground who had been shot.

“I don’t know who did it,” the caller said to the dispatcher, according to a recording of the call. “… He’s dead. I’m looking at a dead body.

The caller said he did not see who shot the victim.

“A car pulled up and left … I saw lights taking off.”
