1 injured in collision with school bus near Lynn, Indiana

LYNN, Indiana — Authorities in Indiana said one person was injured Thursday morning when a car and a school bus collided

The crash happened around 7:40 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Route 36 and County Road 100 near Lynn, Indiana.

According to the Indiana State Patrol, a school bus owned by Randolph Southern Schools was traveling southbound on County Road 100 approached U.S. Route 36 when it collided with a car traveling on east on County Road 100.

The bus was driven by Joni Landers, 58, of Lynn. The Chevrolet Impala was driven by Heather O’Dell, 41, of Modoc, Indiana.

The Indiana State Patrol said Landers attempted to cross the highway with the bus when she pulled out in front of O’Dell who was not able to stop and struck the right side of the bus. Authorities said after the collision the bus was able to clear the intersection and stopped on County Road 100.

Officials with Randolph Southern Schools said there were 10 students on board the bus at the time of the crash.

O’Dell was taken to Reid Health in Richmond for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Landers was not injured in the crash and neither were any of the 10 students.

Parents and guardians of the students were notified of the crash by the school.

The crash remains under investigation.
