Springfield man killed in single-vehicle crash on New Carlisle Pike

SPRINGFIELD TWP. — A Springfield man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on New Carlisle Pike in Springfield Twp. Thursday afternoon, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Brian Buck, 64, was identified as the victim killed in the crash on New Carlisle Pike, just north of National Road, around 2:45 p.m. Thursday, state troopers said in a media release.

A preliminary investigation found the work truck that Buck was driving overturned while trying to drive through a sloping, left curve on New Carlisle Pike, investigators said. The truck went off the right side of the road, causing Buck to overcorrect and overturn the vehicle, and caused the truck to hit a utility pole.

Buck was pronounced dead at the scene. State troopers said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Additional details and potential factors in the crash were not released.

The crash remains under investigation by the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
