VANDALIA — Vandalia City Manager Jon Crusey has resigned his position, effective Friday, July 3, according to a statement released Monday afternoon.
Crusey previously served as Tipp City city manager before coming to Vandalia in April 2014. He subsequently retired in 2017 and was rehired to the same position.
“I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish in Vandalia,” Crusey said. “We have made great strides in economic and community development, and I’m confident Vandalia will have the same types of success moving forward.”
Crusey said he’s grateful for his Vandalia experience and the relationships he has developed with staff and community leaders.
“We have an excellent staff in Vandalia,” Crusey said. “The people who work for the City are dedicated to providing the best possible service to the taxpayers of Vandalia.”
Mayor Richard Herbst, in a prepared response, said, “We appreciate the six years Mr. Crusey has dedicated to the City of Vandalia. Under his leadership we have been able to broaden our tax base, and maintain a safe and stable atmosphere for our citizens "
City Council has appointed Police Chief Kurt Althouse as interim city manager while the search for a permanent manager is conducted.
