Waynesville woman killed in head-on collision on state Route 73 in Clearcreek Twp., OSP says

CLEARCREEK TWP. — A 51-year-old Waynesville woman has been identified as the driver who was killed in a head-on collision Thursday night on state Route 73 that sent the other driver to a hospital suffering from minor injuries, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

Jeri Beth Murray died at the scene. She was headed east on 73 in a Honda Civic that was struck by an oncoming Chevrolet 1500 pickup driven by Tommy Abner, 48, of Wilmington. The accident, near Bunnell Hill Road, occurred about 7:52 p.m.

Abner drove left of center and impairment (alcohol) is suspected as a factor in the crash, according to the state patrol.

Abner was conscious and alert when he was taken to Kettering Medical Center, a trooper at the scene said.

Murray was taken to the Warren County Coroner’s Office.

there were no other occupants in either vehicle.

Initial reports to Warren County Sheriff’s dispatch were that two people were trapped.

Both roads were shut down in all directions for the accident investigation, according to the state patrol.
