Search for endangered missing Dayton man continues a year later

TROTWOOD — UPDATE: Sept. 7, 2021 (4 p.m.)

The Dayton Police Department is working to find an Endangered Missing Adult who was first reported missing a year ago.

Vincent Boykin, 42, was last seen walking near Home Depot in Trotwood, according to a social media post police made Tuesday afternoon.

Boykin is blind in one eye and legally blind in his other eye and has mental health challenges, according to the police department.

Police initially reported last year that Boykin was last heard from Sept. 6, 2020 at 11:30 p.m. On Labor Day. His parents went to his Rockland Drive address at 9:30 a.m. to check on him but he wasn’t there, police said.

When Boykin first went missing, members of Texas EquuSearch Midwest and Dayton police searched a large wooded area near a Trotwood apartment complex for Boykin.

The operation near the Fox Run Apartments on 200 Fieldstone Drive lasted several hours.

David Rader, a spokesman for EquuSearch Midwest, said three search teams (20 people in all), K-9 units and police were part of the search.

Dayton police Lt. Jason Hall said the search went to the apartment complex because Boykin had family living there.

Community and municipal partners helped the police department conduct the search, he said, including the Vandalia Fire Department with drone support, Dayton Fire Department Box 21 Rescue unit and Trotwood police.

Anyone with information that could help law enforcement locate Boykin is asked to contact Det. Moody 937-333-7630 or Crime Stoppers 937-222-STOP.
