Power to about 3,000 DP&L customers in Vandalia restored after weather-related outage

VANDALIA — UPDATE @ 12:50 a.m. (June 5): Power has been restored in Vandalia, according to the DP&L outage map.

INITIAL REPORT (June 4)

An estimated 3,000 DP&L customers in the city are without power Thursday night and crews are in the area.

The outages are weather related, DP&L spokeswoman Mary Ann Kabel said. Customers may be up and running in about an hour, she said.

Outages were first reported just before 9 p.m., according to the utility’s online outage map. A Vandalia Police Department dispatcher estimated the power outage at just after 9 p.m. The dispatch center is operating on generator power, the dispatcher said.

According to what we’re hearing through Vandalia police and fire communications, the outage is in an area along East National Road from I-75 to North Dixie Drive.

According to the DP&L online outage page, there are 3,242 total outages being reported in Montgomery County, the majority of which are in Vandalia.
