FAIRFIELD TWP., Madison County — (UPDATE @ 8:35 p.m., May 19): The tornado that hit the Lilly Chapel area in eastern Madison County on Monday afternoon was an EF0, National Weather Service investigators said.
The twister touched down in a field and traveled 1.9 miles at 85 mph and was on the ground approximately 4 minutes, weather service investigators said.
A barn along Lilly Chapel - Georgesville Road was destroyed and metal from its roof was thrown across the road and into yards. Lilly Chapel is an unincorporated comunity of Fairfield Twp., in eastern Madison County.
INITIAL REPORT (May 18)
A tornado touched down Monday afternoon about 8 miles east of London in Madison County, National Weather Service forecasters in Wilmington said this evening.
The tornado is believed to have occurred about 4:52 p.m., based on video evidence and radar data, NWS forecasters said.
About 40 minutes later, a WHIO-TV viewer videotaped what appears to be a funnel cloud. The viewer told Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs she was south of Urbana, near U.S. 68 and County Line Road between 5:30 and 5:45 p.m.

The timing of the video matches up with a strong line of storms that moved through the Champaign County part of the Miami Valley at that time, Vrydaghs said.
The region continues under a Flash Flood Watch through 8 p.m. Tuesday.
