UPDATE: Kettering teenager, reported missing, has been returned home, police report

KETTERING — UPDATE @ 10:30 p.m. (May 18): Brian Markland, 14, has been returned home, Kettering Police Officer Joe Ferrell said.

A Kettering teenager who was last seen leaving his home Sunday night reportedly is missing and an organization coordinating the alert is asking you to call the Kettering Police Department if you know where the boy is.

Brian Markland, 14, was last seen, according to security video cameras, leaving his room via his window at 9:11 p.m. Sunday, according to the AWARE Foundation, which issued the alert about him Wednesday night. He remained missing as of Thursday morning.

He is about 5-foot-7 inches tall and 120 pounds. He was wearing a gray Nike sweatshirt with torn blue jeans. He did not take any of his belongings.

According to the family’s Wi-Fi router, Brian was on his school email about an hour prior to leaving but they do not know who he was communicating with or in regards to what.

His Chromebook, its screen broken, was found on his bed.
