Police, Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies, and a medic unit were dispatched about 8:45 p.m. Thursday to an area of the bike trail, near the I-75 overpass just off Embury Park Road in Harrison Twp.

As Five Rivers MetroParks rangers arrived a white Chevrolet Equinox with a temporary license tag sped off, however deputies are no longer looking for that vehicle, said Maj. Matt Haines.

Homicide investigators are still working to determine whether the shooting happened on the bike path or somewhere else, however they suspect it happened somewhere else.

Collins was known to law enforcement, Haines said.
