And the Golden Globe goes to....

The 78th annual Golden Globe Awards will definitely look a little different this year due to the pandemic but that won’t stop the major stars from coming out and the major moments from happening. While the show was postponed to February from its original January date, the challenge of COVID-19 will bring on an unprecedented & exciting “bicoastal” broadcast.

Here is everything you need to know about this year’s Golden Globes.

When do they take place?

The awards are taking place this Sunday, February 28th at 8PM/EST.

Is there a red carpet?

We’re not entirely sure. What we are sure of is that there will be a pre-show that fans can livestream from the award show’s official Twitter account as well as its website. The 2021 Golden Globes pre-show airs Sunday, Feb. 28 at 6:30pm ET.

How do I watch?

The awards are airing on NBC at 8PM/EST and then will replay on NBC’s streaming platform Peacock the following day.

Who is hosting?

Tina Fey & Amy Poehler are back to hosting the Golden Globes. They previously hosted together from 2013 - 2015.

Where is it taking place?

As we mentioned earlier, this year, the show will go bicoastal for the first time. Tina Fey will be co-hosting from the The Rainbow Room in Manhattan, while Poehler will co-host from the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, where the show is usually held.

Who are the big nominees?

Among the long list of nominees — which includes Jared Leto, Kaley Cuoco and Lily Collins — are three women who are making history. Regina King, Chloe Zhao and Emerald Fennell are nominated for Best Director, a category that has only seen five female nominees in the last 78 years. The nominations were dominated by the major streaming platforms with Netflix leading the pack with 42 nominations (22 in film, 20 in television).

Who is presenting?

Awkwafina, Cynthia Erivo, Annie Mumolo, Joaquin Phoenix, Kristen Wiig and Renee Zellweger were officially announced as presenters back on February 17. Kevin Bacon, Sterling K. Brown, Michael Douglas, Kyra Sedgwick, Susan Kelechi Watson and Catherine Zeta-Jones were announced two days later. Additional presenters Margot Robbie, Tiffany Haddish, Anthony Anderson, Kate Hudson and Kenan Thompson were revealed on February 22. According to Variety, presenters are expected to appear in person from either of the two filming locations. However, the nominees will attend remotely.
