Hello, Dayton! My name is Ava Petrosky, and I am thrilled to be a reporter/multimedia journalist with the WHIO-TV team. I have a passion for storytelling, and I am honored to meet the Miami Valley community and share your stories. I am originally from Long Island, New York. I graduated summa cum laude from Villanova University in May 2026. There, I studied communication, specializing in journalism and media production, and I also received a minor in Spanish. During the 2025-2026 academic year, I interned with 6abc Action News in Philadelphia. On campus, I was a news reporter with Villanova Television, the student media organization, and I was also a news writer for The Villanovan, the official student news site. I covered both local and national stories, including the 2024 presidential election, the swatting incidents happening across college campuses, and the election of Pope Leo XIV. Aside from chasing stories, I spent much of my time dabbling in the performing arts. I have been a tap dancer since I was 3 years old, and I sang in a choir also. Off stage, I tutored at the Villanova Writing Center and served on the executive board for various committees and organizations across campus. I wanted to be as involved as possible. When I’m not chasing a story, I love hot yoga, reading a suspenseful mystery novel, and exploring new places. In fact, one of my bucket list items is to travel to all 50 states, and I can now happily say I’ve made it to Ohio! This is my first time in the Midwest, and I am excited to call Dayton my new home! I am even more excited to engage with the community and share the important stories that impact our area.
