It has been a hot and humid summer, and even though meteorological fall began Saturday, Mother Nature apparently did not get the memo.
Temperatures hit 92 degrees at the Dayton International Airport Monday and 91 degrees on Tuesday. Highs Wednesday are expected to hit 90 degrees again, making it three in a row and the fourth heat wave of 2018.
A heat wave in the Miami Valley is a stretch of three or more 90-degree days in a row. Dayton has experienced three so far: June 16-18; June 30-July 2; and Aug. 26-28. Dayton also has seen 18 90-degree days this year, which is well above the average of 13 for the year.
