UD women take home several Atlantic 10 awards

NEWPORT NEWS, VA — The University of Dayton women’s basketball team received several end of the season honors from the Atlantic 10 Conference.

UD went 13-2 overall and will be the number one overall seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Championship in Richmond, Virginia.

Among the award winners; Redshirt senior guard Araion Bradshaw was named A-10 Defensive Player of the Year while fellow senior Jenna Giacone was named Most Improved Player. Freshman Tenin Magassa won the A-10′s Sixth Woman of the Year Award.

Bradshaw was also named to the All-Defensive Team and earned Third team honors. Giacone was named to the A-10 First team while Magassa made the All-Rookie Team. Redshirt senior Erin Whalen was named to the Second Team and All-Academic Team.

Dayton’s first game in the A-10 Tournament will be Friday morning at 11 a.m. and will face of the winner of LaSalle vs Duquesne.
