Damar Hamlin: NFL will not resume postponed Bills-Bengals game this week

CINCINNATI — Following Monday night’s postponement of the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills game after Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field, the NFL announced the game will not be resumed this week.

In a statement sent by a league spokesperson, the NFL said the game will not be resumed this week. Additionally, the league “has made no decision” about possibly resuming the game at a later date, the spokesperson said.

“After speaking with both teams and NFLPA leadership, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell informed the clubs today that the Bills-Bengals game will not be resumed this week. The NFL has made no decision regarding the possible resumption of the game at a later date,”

The league has also made no changes to the Week 18 schedule. The Bengals are scheduled to take on the Baltimore Ravens at either 1 p.m. or 4:25 p.m. on WHIO-TV, but the timing of the game was based on the outcome of Monday night’s game.

It was not clear what time the Bengals will play Sunday. The Bengals website lists Sunday’s game time as TBD.

Hamlin remains hospitalized at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and is still in critical condition, a Buffalo Bills spokesperson said in an updated social media post Tuesday.

“Damar Hamlin spent last night in the intensive care unit and remains there today in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. We are grateful and thankful for the outpouring of support we have received thus far,” the team spokesperson said in the social media post.
