Bengals QB Joe Burrow earns AFC weekly honor for 2nd time this season

CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his Week 13 performance in the Bengals, 27-24, win over the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday.

It’s the second time he’s won that award this season, earning it following his Week 7 performance against Atlanta.

He completed 25 of 31 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns for a passer rating of 126.6, the team said. He also ran for 46 yards and a four-yard touchdown run on the game’s opening drive.

Burrow helped lead the Bengals to a fourth quarter comeback.

Cincinnati trailed, 24-17, but he completed nine of 11 passes for 80 yards in the final quarter, including an eight-yard touchdown pass to Chris Evans with 8:54 remaining to put them ahead for good.

Burrow helped seal the game by completing three straight passes on the Bengals’ final drive, converting twice on third down.

It is his fourth overall career AFC Offensive Player of the Week award. In addition to winning it once this season, he won it twice last season, after his play in Week 4 against Jacksonville and Week 16 against Baltimore.

Cincinnati’s next game will be Sunday, December 11 when they host their in-state rival, Cleveland Browns. It is the second game of “The Battle of Ohio.”

Cleveland won the first game, 32-13, on October 31 at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Browns are winners of five straight games over the Bengals.
