Wittenberg University giving away financial aid grants through drawings for vaccinated students

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Wittenberg University is joining the list of businesses and universities offering incentives for students who have received the COVID-19 vaccine.

The university announced Thursday that starting June 7, three financial aid grants will be awarded each week to students who report their vaccination status to the university.

Grants worth $2,500, $1,000 and $500 will be awarded each week through the week of August 9. The vaccine incentive is a part of the university’s effort to have at least 75 percent of its student population vaccinated before the fall semester begins on August 30.

“Our COVID Response Team continues to strongly encourage students and employees to get vaccinated,” Casey Gill, Vice President for Student Development and Dean of Students said in a release posted on the university’s website.

Drawings will be held each Monday. To be eligible, students must register their vaccine information in the housing portal of the university’s website by the Friday immediately preceding the drawing.

Registered students do not need to re-register each week.
