Day 3 of the Caleb Flynn murder trial concludes. Judge Pratt said the court will restart Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

Officer Luke Veldman with the Tipp City Police Dept. takes the stand.

The next witness on the stand after a brief recess is Det. Adam Bernard, Tipp City Police Dept.
UPDATE @ 2:38 p.m.:
Dr. Casto testifies that based on some of the characteristics of the two gunshot wounds to the back of Ashley Flynn’s head, she was shot at close range, but that he cannot determine the exact range from which she was shot.
Dr. Casto is now off the stand after cross-examination from the defense. No redirect from the state. The court has released him.
Judge Pratt said the court will resume at 2:55 after a mid-afternoon break.
UPDATE @ 2:05 p.m.:
Dr. Bryan Casto, Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, Deputy Coroner and Forensic Pathologist, is now on the stand.
Prosecutors showed Dr. Casto autopsy photos of Ashley. We’re seeing Caleb Flynn getting emotional again.

Agent Hammond was excused from the stand.

State said it has no further questions for Agent Hammond.
They’ll take lunch now.
They will restart at 12:50, and at that point, the Defense will cross-examine Hammond.
UPDATE @ 11:50 a.m.:
Prosecutors asked Ohio BCI Special Agent Hammond how long he was at the home collecting evidence; he said approximately 12 hours.
Prosecutors asked him what he concluded based on the evidence he collected.
Hammond answered: “My concern at the end of the scene examination was that this was a homicide and it was staged as a burglary.”

Special Agent Hammond said the evidence, including examining Ashley Flynn’s body in the bed indicated Ashley was asleep when she was killed. He said there was no evidence of a struggle. He said he could see a wound to her head, but that because of the nature of the wound, he could not tell what kind of wound it was. He did say she had a wound right behind her right ear.
UPDATE @ 9:23 a.m.:
Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation Special Agent David Hammond is the first witness on the stand on Monday.
Hammond said the damage to the side door to the garage was “inconsistent” with the damage he’s seen in hundreds of home burglaries he’s investigated in his career. He said there were no indications the door was forced or kicked open. That’s the entry Flynn said he thought the intruder used to get into the house.
As previously reported, police said Flynn told them that someone broke into their home and killed his wife.

Day 3 of Caleb Flynn’s murder trial is expected to begin this morning at 8:30 a.m.
On Friday, opening statements were followed by body-camera footage from the night officers were called to the Flynn home.

Prosecutors said they had gone through thousands of text messages between Flynn and his mistress, which is something the defense said had nothing to do with Ashley Flynn’s murder.
“I was up until 4 a.m. last night, crying, literally trying to think of ways to kill her and not go to jail. If I could literally kill her and not go to hell, I would do it in a heartbeat. That is how dark and how hateful I feel,” said Paul Watkins, Miami County Prosecutor, as he read the text messages.
These messages were sent to Flynn’s mistress, months before Ashley Flynn’s death.
Law enforcement officers who responded to the Flynn home in February took the stand on Friday, walking through the investigation.
Jurors are expected in the courtroom at 8 a.m., with court beginning at 8:30 a.m.
