Kyesha Cheyenne Renee Moredock, 35, of Evansville, was arrested Tuesday and charged with 10 counts of theft of property valued at least $750 and less than $50,000, according to Vandenburgh County online booking and court records.

According to WFIE-TV, an investigation began in May when agents with Walmart Asset Protection reported thefts to the Evansville Police Department and provided video of Moredock allegedly violating the store’s cash control procedures.

Moredock, who told police she had worked at the store for two years, said that part of her job was to take money to and from Walmart’s self-checkout registers, the television station reported.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Moredock admitted to violating the cash control policy but did not admit to stealing any money. Officers then halted the interview and Moredock requested an attorney, WFIE reported.

According to Walmart officials, they had video evidence of Moredock taking money to her car from April 2022 to May 2022, totaling $46,000, the television station reported.

Police said they believe that Moredock stole more than $225,000.

The asset protection associate told police that Moredock blamed the financial loss on a “software glitch,” WEVV-TV reported.

Moredock is scheduled to appear in court for a hearing on Oct. 18, online court records show.
