Courtney Taylor Clenney, 26, whose address is listed as Austin, Texas, was arrested in Laupahoehoe, Hawaii, according to a news release from the Hawaii Police Department. She was charged with second-degree murder with a deadly weapon for the April 3 stabbing of Christian “Toby” Obumseli in Miami, the Miami Herald reported.

Clenney was taken into custody without incident by the U.S. Marshals Service, according to the Hawaii Police Department news release. A warrant for her arrest had been issued in Miami-Dade County.

Her arrest was confirmed by her Miami defense lawyer, Frank Prieto, who said she had been in Hawaii while in rehabilitation for substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder, the Herald reported.

“I’m completely shocked, especially since we were cooperating with the investigation and offered to voluntarily surrender her if she were charged,” Prieto told the newspaper. “We look forward to clearing her name in court.”

Prieto has said that Clenney acted in self-defense, according to WPLG-TV.

Clenney has an online following of more than 2 million people, according to Hawaii News Now. She is known as Courtney Tailor on Instagram.

The stabbing of Obumseli, just a week shy of his 28th birthday, occurred in a Miami apartment, WPLG reported.

Photos and video obtained by TMZ appear to show Clenney, covered in blood, speaking with police officers inside the apartment where the stabbing happened.

In a news release Wednesday evening, the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office said the arrest warrant remained sealed. State Attorney Katherine Fernandez, along with Miami City Police Department Chief Manuel Morales and South Florida U.S. Marshal Gadyaces Serralta, are expected to discuss the arrest at a news conference on Thursday, the Herald reported.

Clenney is being held at the Hawaii Police Department’s East Hawaii Detention Center, according to the news release from the Hawaii Police Department. She is scheduled to appear in Hilo District Court on Thursday.
