Jimmy Rave, a professional wrestler whose real name was James Michael Guffey, has died at the age of 39.
His death on Sunday was announced by his agent, TMZ reported, but a cause of death was not released.
Rave was born in Atlanta, and started wrestling professionally in 1999 and competed in Full Impact Pro and Ring of Honor, NBC News reported.
He also appeared on World Wrestling Entertainment’s “Sunday Night Heat” and won championships with National Wrestling Alliance.
Outside of the ring, he had been the director of the Peer Support, Wellness and Respite Center in Bartow County, Georgia, People magazine reported.
Rave’s agent said the wrestler had been “struggling with drug addiction,” which necessitated the amputation of both legs and one arm. The leg amputation surgery happened six months ago and was necessary because of a MRSA infection, People magazine reported.
Prior to his death, Rave had been living in Philadelphia. He is survived by a daughter, son and his parents, NBC News reported.
Memorial services will be held in Georgia, TMZ reported.
