Robertson met her husband in 1952 at Yale University, where she was pursuing a master’s degree in nursing and he was studying law, according to her obituary. The pair wed two years later.

“Dede Robertson was a woman of great faith, a champion of the Gospel, and a remarkable servant of Christ who has left an indelible print on all that she set her hand to during her extraordinary life,” her husband said in a statement.

Robertson, who wrote two books, served as a U.S. delegate to the Inter-American Commission of Women from 1982 to 1990, the network said. She also “campaigned enthusiastically” for her husband during his presidential campaign in 1987 and 1988, according to her obituary.

She is survived by her husband, four children, 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, her obituary said.
