Thunderstorms could shift into snow this week

A major severe weather outbreak looks to take place across the Gulf Coast states Tuesday afternoon into the evening hours.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed a moderate risk for severe storms across parts of Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, reports StormCenter 7 Chief Meteorologist Eric Elwell. Severe storms that develop in the south today could produce large tornadoes.

But for the southwest region of Ohio, Elwell says don’t be surprised if you hear a few rumbles of thunder later Tuesday into the day Wednesday.

“While we do not expect severe storms in Ohio, it is possible gusty winds could cause us a few issues especially by Wednesday night into Thursday,” Elwell said. “Amazingly, it is possible we could have thunderstorms move through, and then snow showers a few hours later.”
