‘Overwhelmed. Heartsick. Stressed.;’ 80 dogs, other animals removed from Ohio home

RICHLAND COUNTY — More than 80 animals, including 65 dogs and puppies, were rescued from a northern Ohio home Saturday morning.

Saturday morning the Humane Society of Richland County removed 65 dogs and puppies, 15 nursing puppies, and several exotic animals from a home, according to a social media post by the agency.

The animals were said to have lived in a “disgustingly filthy environment.”

One animal has died due to illness, according to the social media post.

The shelter had to close for the foreseeable future due to the large influx of animals now in their care.

The humane society asked for $20,000 in donations to help care for the animals and as of Sunday morning has received $20,465.

Information about when the animals will be up for adoption was not included in the post or possible charges the owners of the home are facing.
