MIDDLETOWN — The Warren County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was shot and killed by Middletown police on Saturday.

Victor Lykins, 47, was shot by officers in the parking lot of the Walmart located in the 2900 block of Towne Boulevard following a traffic a stop, according to our news partner WCPO in Cincinnati.

One of the people inside an SUV pulled a gun and that’s when an officer opened fire, FOP President Dan Hils said.

“The police officer discharged his weapon,” he said. “I believed saved the life of the other officer involved.”

The man shot was wanted on a felony warrant but Hils did not say what crime Lykins was charged with, WCPO reports.

Ohio BCI continues to investigate the shooting, a spokesperson for the Ohio attorney general’s office confirmed to News Center 7.

No officers were injured.
