A 2007 Honda Civic was traveling south on state Route 222 when it crossed the center line and struck a 2020 Fusion that was traveling northbound around 4:45 p.m., the Batavia post told our sister station in Cincinnati, WCPO.

Maria Rodriguez, a passenger in the Civic, as well as an infant passenger, were both pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release. Troopers say the driver, Juan Jimenez, was taken to Anderson Mercy Hospital hospital with non-life threatening injuries while Reginaldo Jimenez, an additional passenger, was taken to University of Cincinnati Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Fusion suffered minor injuries.

We are working to learn the condition of both Juan and Reginaldo Jimenez as well as the age and identity of the infant that was killed.

The crash remains under investigation.
