State OKs $3.3M to overhaul Hueston Woods State Park lodge

Major upgrades are coming to the lodge at Hueston Woods State Park, and improvements are also on the way for the West Manchester Community Park.

“I appreciate the State Controlling Board’s support for these local projects in Preble County,” state Rep. J. Todd Smith, R-Farmersville, stated in a release.

The board approved the release of $3.3 million for the project, which will include replacing the roof, exterior work and minor structural repairs.

The Hueston Woods lodge, managed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, opened in 1965. This will be the first major renovation to the lodge, which has 92 guest rooms plus dining facilities and an outdoor swimming pool.

The state board also approved the release of $52,700 for West Manchester Community Park to replace ball field dugouts, bleachers and fencing.
