ATHENS — Ohio University has issued cease and desist letters to three Women’s Panhellenic Association chapter sororities and one co-educational business fraternity after hazing allegations, an OU spokesperson announced Wednesday.
The four groups include Delta Zeta’s Omicron Gamma chapter, Chi Omega’s Tau Alpha chapter, Pi Beta Phi’s Ohio Alpha chapter and Phi Chi Theta.
“We take every allegation of hazing very seriously,” OU stated in a release. “We do not have reason to believe there is a systemic culture issue within the Women’s Panhellenic Association organizations nor within our professional fraternal organizations.”
These four join nine other fraternity chapters also being investigated for hazing. According to Athens News, those chapters include Acacia, Alpha Epsilon Pi, Beta Theta Pi, Delta Tau Delta, Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Kappa Psi, Sigma Chi and Theta Chi.
OU police have reviewed the initial hazing reports and say, “none have risen to the level of actionable criminal activity.”
