Springfield native, Elle Smith, crowned Miss USA

DAYTON — Shawnee High School graduate and Springfield native Elle Smith has been crowned Miss USA 2021.

The 23-year-old represented Kentucky, where she currently works as a journalist at WHAS11 in Louisville and received her bachelor’s in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Kentucky, according to our partners at WCPO Cincinnati.

Smith competed against 51 other women including University of Cincinnati pharmacy student and Miss Ohio USA Nicole Wess.

Smith will compete in the Miss Universe pageant on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, in Israel.
