FAIRBORN — A woman was killed and four other people were hospitalized after a head-on crash on Kauffman Avenue in Fairborn Tuesday night, according to police.
Police and medics were called just before 10 p.m. to the 1100 block of Kauffman Avenue near West Garland Avenue after the head-on crash involving two cars was reported. The crash was first found by a Fairborn officer in the area who heard the crash and requested additional units to respond, police said.
A woman, who was a passenger in one of the cars, was pronounced dead at the scene, a Fairborn police spokesperson said in a media release. The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of family and further investigation by the Greene County Coroner’s Office.
Four others were transported to area hospitals with injuries believed to be non-life threatening, Fairborn police Sgt. John McGuire said. Two of those victims were trapped inside the vehicles as a result of the crash and had to be extracted by fire crews.
The crash is still under investigation and potential factors that led to the crash were not released. McGuire said police have also not determined which driver was at fault in the crash.
