Xenia Tornado Gil Whitney, a weather specialist for WHIO-TV, is credited with saving lives during the 1974 Xenia when he spotted a hook echo shape on radar signifying a tornado and broke into programming warning residents to take cover. “This storm is severe. A massive storm,” Gil Whitney said.
