A one-year-old that died in St. Marys last month had been left in a hot car, according to a preliminary autopsy report.
St. Marys police and medics were called to a home in the 100 block of North Vine Street June 13 after two people called 911 to say the child was unresponsive.

“My wife just got back from a long car drive. We thought she was sleeping,” a man told 911 dispatchers.
A woman who also was talking on the phone said, “There was no heat in the car, but we had all the windows down, so we thought she was OK.”
Ceicila Harting, 1, was removed from the home in cardiac arrest and later died at a local hospital, according to St. Marys Police Chief Jacob Sutton.
According to the preliminary autopsy report, Harting had been left in car seat in a hot car. Her cause of death is listed as hyperthermia (heatstroke).
Her manner of death is listed as accidental.
No criminal charges have been filed, however the case has been submitted to the Auglaize County Prosecutor’s Office for review, Sutton said.
