An overnight kitchen fire forced residents to evacuate part of an apartment complex in Franklin Township.
Fire crews responded to the Waterfront Apartments in the 8700 block of Dayton Oxford Road in Franklin Township around 2 a.m. Tuesday on reports of structure fire. The fire was limited to the kitchen of one of the units with no further damage done to any of the surrounding apartments according to Franklin Township Fire Chief Steve Bishop.
Fire crews were aided by Warren County Sheriff deputies that arrived on scene and evacuated nearby apartments Bishop said.
Investigators believe the fire may have started when a tenant fell asleep while food was left cooking on a stove.
The resident of the affected apartment will be displaced for the night, but no injuries were reported.
A damage estimate to the apartment was not immediately available.
