‘Enraged’ man arrested for escape, vandalism

A man arrested in Miami County Tuesday evening pushed out a window of a cruiser and attempted to escape out the window.

Dustin Bennett was arrested following a disturbance at his home. He is accused of attempting to slip out of his handcuffs, pushing out the window of the cruiser and trying to escape, and spitting saliva and blood at a deputy at the jail. Authorities described his behavior as “enraged.”

Bennett was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center for a head injury he suffered while beating his head on the shield inside the cruiser that separates the officer and the prisoner, according to authorities.

He appeared in court Tuesday morning where his bond was set at $55,000 on charges of vandalism, escape and harassment by an inmate. He also faces a possible charge of domestic violence.
