Some Americans are starting to feel the effects of Israel’s war with Hamas at their jobs.
The war isn’t just sparking tense conversations in the workplace, some people are losing their jobs over it.

With President Biden’s historic trip to Israel, the US support for Israel is in the spotlight.
Some employees at big-name companies are calling for their leaders to take a public political stance.

However, sharing personal opinions on the war could lead to consequences. Father Venus was an employee at American Express.
He told News Center 7′s Arielle Hixson that he was fired after changing his Slack profile to “Free Palestine” in response to a company-wide email expressing solidarity with Israel.

“What I did I hope will facilitate that kind of world where we can say free Palestine and not have our jobs in jeopardy or our lives in jeopardy,” Venus said.
Yoav Davis, a content creator from Israel, told Hixson that regardless of your opinions, there is a fine line to self-expression.

“I’m pro-Palestine, I’m pro-Israel. My only concern, the only thing that is really unacceptable is if you support the murdering of people. That really is the line here,” Davis said.
Some employees are pushing for employers to provide more workplace education on the war.
Regardless of your opinions, it is smart to review their companies’ social media policies before posting anything online.
