Man dead after being hit by car on I-75 in Franklin Twp.

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a pedestrian strike in Franklin Township that left one man dead.

Around 7:30 p.m. Troopers were called to a person hit by a vehicle on southbound I-75 near mile marker 40 in Franklin Township, according to a media release.

An initial investigation found that a semi-trailer was driving south when it hit a man, identified as Jerry Sprinkle, 50, of Middletown.

Sprinkle died from his injuries.

Troopers said Sprinkle was in the roadway within lanes of travel at the time of the crash.

No charges have been filed at this time.

We are working to learn why Sprinkle was in the roadway and what led up to the crash.
