Zontini leaves WHIO-TV for new adventure outside broadcast weather

DAYTON — After nearly a decade at WHIO, Storm Center 7 morning, Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini has decided to step away from the weather center and into a new role outside of TV.

“I have absolutely loved my time here at WHIO, but as my family grows, I needed to find something new that would allow me to be with them more,” Zontini explained.

During her time at WHIO-TV, Zontini has guided families each morning with her television, radio, and online forecasts. She has flown with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, started Cloudy with a Chance of Podcast with Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs, and visited schools across the Miami Valley to help educate children about science and the atmosphere.

“The Miami Valley has embraced me and let me into their homes each morning. I feel honored to all who have woken up with me each morning on Daybreak! I got married here, had my two sweet daughters, and went through major surgery. Each time I stepped away, I felt the love and support from the people of the Miami Valley. I am so grateful I have been able to grow as a person, a meteorologist, and a communicator,” she said.

Zontini will be joining the internal communications team at Kroger; a new adventure she is excited to embrace.

“I am so thankful for my time at WHIO-TV and to all my coworkers who made waking up in the middle of the night fun. I will still be here in the Miami Valley and I’m happy to continue to be a part of this community,” Zontini said.
