WSU to get first mobile hands-only CPR training kiosk in the country

DAYTON — Kettering Health will unveil the country’s first mobile hands-only CPR training kiosk at Wright State University today.

Starting at 11:00 a.m. a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the mobile kiosk will be held in the student union, according to a release from American Heart Association.

The release claims the kiosk can provide hands-on CPR training to the public in five minutes or less.

“What a privilege it is to work with the American Heart Association on this project,” says Alina Joseph the NW Executive Director of the Heart and Vascular Service Line at Kettering Health, “This kiosk presents a unique opportunity to extend our mission outside of our medical center walls and directly into the community with simple, yet life-saving education. We are incredibly excited to think about the impact it can have.”

Within the next three years, the kiosk will be moved to nine different host sites to make training available to most of the Dayton region.

The American Heart Association says widespread CPR training could bring lasting impacts, such as:

• Each year more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of the hospital, and more than 20 percent occur in public places like airports, casinos, and sporting facilities.
• CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival.
• Studies show that Hands-Only CPR is equally as effective as conventional mouth-to-mouth CPR, and people are more likely to feel comfortable performing it.

Through this CPR kiosk, anyone can quickly and easily gain that confidence. I love that this kiosk, as it travels, is building a community of informed, alert lifesavers!”
