Woman walks on StairMaster for a painful 24 hours to raise money for Ukraine

PARMA, Ohio — A woman walked on a StairMaster on social media for a total of 24 hours to raise money for Ukraine.

Olena Sadovska was born in Ukraine but currently lives near Cleveland.

“I moved here with my parents and my brother and then the rest of my family stayed behind in Ukraine,” Sadovska told our partners at WBNS-TV.

Next year she will be a freshman at OSU and a member of the women’s swim team.

She said that when she saw what was going on in Ukraine, she knew she had to do something to help her home country.

While Sadovksa took some breaks, she said they didn’t count towards the 24 hour total.

“It was definitely the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, the most pain I’ve ever experienced. But after the halfway point, when I reached 12 hours, that’s when I had my longest break. It was like 10 minutes.” Sadvoska said.

She said most people don’t go on the machine for more than an hour because of how difficult it is.

“The bottoms of my feet have a ton of blisters and bruises, but they will be okay, so I’ll be fine. I don’t regret anything. It was definitely worth it.”

In those 24 hours, Sadovska raised $12,000 to support humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine.
