Woman accused of spraying neighbor’s dog in face with insect killer

A Dayton woman is accused of spraying her neighbor’s dog in the face with insect killer.

Dayton police issued a summons arrest Wednesday morning to 65 -year-old Janet Charles for a misdemeanor charge of poisoning animals.

Her neighbor in the 1500 block of Westona Drive said that around 10:45 a.m. Charles used a can of Raid to spray one of his dogs through the chain-link fence that separates their yards, according to a Dayton Police Department report.

The dog's owner said he did not know how much insect spray his dog ingested, but that he would monitor the pet to determine whether his dog needs treatment from a veterinarian.

According to the report, Charles told police she did not intentionally spray the dog, which happened while she was spraying a spider that spun a web on her fence.

Charles also told police the dogs' owner is a bad neighbor because he killed the grass along the fence line and doesn't clean up his dogs' feces in the yard, the report stated. She also said she would not be interested in mediation.
