SHELBY COUNTY — A roof on a barn was destroyed and a metal awning was ripped from a home Thursday night as significant wind gusts moved through the Miami Valley.
The roof of a barn that houses farm equipment was torn from the building in the 3300 block of Cisco Road.
The damage was spotted this morning by Rich and Carol Carstensen, who have been weather spotters for the National Weather Service for decades.
The damage to an awning was reported in the 800 block of Merri Lane.
A portion of the roof of the home also was damaged by the winds that gusted up to 50 mph.
