Winds tear off section of roof at new Menards as severe weather hits region, downs trees, wires

FAIRBORN — UPDATE @ 7:50 p.m.: A section of roof at a Menards under construction was torn off during Wednesday’s storms.

The damage was one of several damage reports made in the region.

The section of roof at the building site, the Shoppes at Valle Greene on East Dayton Yellow Springs Road, ended up suspended in trees near an apartment complex on Steinbeck Way.

No injuries were reported.

EARLIER REPORT

The severe weather that is crossing the region Wednesday afternoon is leaving behind downed trees and wires, and at least one person injured Lake Loramie State Park in Shelby County.

Additional damage reports as a result of the late afternoon and evening storms include:

  • Large tree damaged on County Line Road, Kettering
  • Large tree down, about 2 miles north of Cable, in Champaign County
  • One side of a pole barn blown down on Eilerman Road, 2 miles east of Fort Loramie in Shelby County
  • Tree reported down and across Boundry Road in Waynesfield, Auglaize County
  • Numerous four to six inch branches reported down in Wapakoneta, Auglaize County
  • Numerous four to six inch branches reported down in Fort Loramie, Shelby County
  • Power lines down on state Route 29 in Shelby County
  • Tree reported into a house in the 100 block of East Broadway in South Lebanon, Warren County
  • Trees reported down in the 100 block of East Main Street in Tipp City, Miami County
  • Wires down across the road in the 300 block of Westwood in Darke County
  • Tree reported on a car and two light poles damaged in the 3200 block of Gracemore Avenue in Kettering
  • Tree down on wires at 599 Fulmer Road
