Washington Twp. Fire Department warning community about recent phone scam

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP — The Washington Township Fire Department is warning people about a recent texting scam that has been targeting local fire departments.

According to the fire department, the scammer is posing as a representative of the department and texting a link to purchase apparel and gear.

“To our knowledge, Washington Township Fire Department has yet to be targeted however, if you do receive a text resembling those in the below photos, asking to purchase apparel, it is a scam,” the fire department said.

The fire department wants to remind the community that it is not affiliated with the organization behind the texts and neither are other local departments.
