Volunteers to plant over 100 trees in areas impacted by Memorial Day tornadoes

MONTGOMERY COUNTY — Today, volunteers will visit homes across the Dayton area and replant trees that were destroyed by the 2019 Memorial Day tornadoes.

This afternoon volunteers with Keep America Beautiful’s RETREET program will plant 140 trees, free of charge at homes in Trotwood, Harrison Township, and Old North Dayton that were hit by the tornadoes.

Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs has been involved with RETREET plantings.

The work will be completed within five hours.

To date, the program has replanted 6,301 native and noninvasive trees, according to a release.
