2 injured in vehicle crash on South Gettysburg Avenue in Dayton that takes down pole, wires

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 10:20 p.m.: Two people have been taken to a hospital after the vehicle they were in crashed into and severed a utility pole on South Gettysburg Avenue, Dayton Fire Lt. John Syx said.

Their injuries are believed to be non-life threatening, he said.

An eyewitness said the vehicle was moving at high speed when it hit the pole. The eyewitness also said one of the victims crawled out of the wreckage and the second victim was helped out by firefighter/rescue personnel.

South Gettysburg Avenue is shut down from McCall to West Third streets because of a vehicle accident, Dayton police said.

The accident, which has brought down power and phone lines, was reported just after 8:30 p.m.
