Each bag contains items intended to promote comfort and reduce anxiety, including noise-reduction headphones, fidget tools, communication aids, and other sensory-friendly resources.
“By equipping our crews with sensory tools, we can better serve individuals who may process emergencies differently and help create a more calming and supportive environment during what can already be a very stressful moment,” Chad Follick, Fire Chief for the Vandalia Division of Fire, said.
This is part of the fire division’s broader effort to strengthen partnerships, improve emergency care, and ensure that every resident receives compassionate and effective service.
