USPS set to slowdown some deliveries starting next month

DAYTON — The U.S. Postal Service says it will be slowing down shipping for first-class packages to cut down on costs and handle reliability issues.

Slowdowns will begin next month, starting May 1.

The post office says it wants to cut down on air travel by continuing to use ground transportation to deliver packages.

The new changes will result in an extra one or two days for first-class packages to arrive at their destinations.

News Center 7 Kayla McDermott reached out to USPS for an interview, but they denied it.

They followed up with a statement that said revising the standards gives customers more realistic and reliable expectations about delivery times.

We spoke with an artist who sells his work online.

“It really will affect my business because now I have to pay more to get it shipped. Out faster, versus without worth, you know, regular priority,” said Angelo Hopson.

There will be more expensive options for you to choose from if you need a package to get somewhere quickly.
