House fire on Cosler Dr. under investigation; Dayton Fire seeking information

DAYTON — The Dayton Fire Department responded to a house fire early Saturday morning.

News Center 7 previously reported that crews were called to the 800 block of Cosler Drive at around 4:30 a.m. A total of 12 crews from Dayton Fire responded, including fire apparatus and medics, a spokesperson for the department stated.

Responders operated for approximately two and a half hours, the spokesperson said.

According to initial reports, crews forced their way into the house.

Flames were seen coming out of the building.

News Center 7′s team reached the scene and recorded video of smoke billowing out of the roof, the window, the porch, and the right-side of the house.

The structure sustained substantial damage, particularly on its right-side. The roof caved in, the window shattered, and the porch, along with the right-side of the house, lost their structural integrity.

However, officials could not provide a preliminary damage estimate at this time.

No injuries were reported, the spokesperson stated.

Officials did not know whether anyone was occupying the residence at the time of the fire. However, a dog was rescued from the house by the Dayton Fire Department and transferred to animal control, the spokesperson said.

Dayton Fire Investigators are investigating the cause of the fire, the spokesperson confirmed.
