Man dead after Dayton shooting; Homicide investigation underway

DAYTON — A man is dead after a shooting in Dayton Thursday morning.

Police and medics responded to the 100 block of Centre Street on reports of a shooting around 10:50 a.m., Dayton Police Sgt. Eric Brown told News Center 7 on scene Thursday.

Upon arrival, officers located a man who had been shot at least once, Brown said. Medics took the man to Miami Valley Hospital with critical injuries. The victim, only identified at this time as a 48-year-old, died from his injuries Thursday afternoon.

Lt. Steve Bauer said Friday that detectives have a suspect in the shooting. That person is not in custody.
